Honouring Yourself Behind the Shield
Honouring Yourself Behind The Shield
What does it mean to walk into work — or climb behind the wheel — and honour yourself?
How can I have confidence behind the wheel?
Not just show up. Not just survive the shift. But above all… carry a quiet confidence that says:
“I matter. My values matter. And I don’t have to prove it — I just live it.”
Early Life Straining and Training
Most of us were taught how to honour others.
Be polite. Show respect. Obey authority.
But no one taught us how to honour ourselves — especially in high-pressure environments like transit. We are expected to handle everything from aggressive passengers to passive-aggressive coworkers … without flinching.
Meanwhile, how do we do it? How do we maintain confidence behind the wheel?
Do we need one strategy for the public… and another for management?
What about the lunchroom? Or family dinners after a long day?
Maybe the real confidence comes from something deeper — a personal code of honour.
To honour is to have great respect.
In contrast, let’s flip the mirror:
- Do I respect how I speak to myself?
- Can I say I trust myself in tough moments?
- Am I living by what I believe is right — or in short, just getting by?

Honour is both a noun and a verb.
🔹 The noun is the reputation you earn.
🔹 The verb is what you choose to do — especially when no one is watching.
And when we treat ourselves with the same integrity we expect from others…
Something shifts.
Boundaries become easier.
Confidence grows.
And we stop waiting for recognition… because we already know who we are.
You don’t have to armor up for every situation.
Just anchor into what you stand for.
That’s your strategy.
It’s your strength.
Hello honour!
