Would You Like Sneakers With That?
Pulling into the drive-thru again?
You’re not alone.
For most shift workers—especially bus drivers—fast food isn’t just food.
It’s fuel, it’s comfort, and sometimes it’s all you have time for between passengers, traffic, and the next route.
But here’s a thought. I wonder how long it takes to walk off this order.
A guy steps up to the counter and says:
“I’ll have the mammoth burger, supersized fries, chocolate shake… and a pair of sneakers.”
Smart guy.
Because to burn that off?
He’d better be walking home from another city.
Let’s break it down (no judgement—just facts):
- 🍫 KitKat bar = 50 minutes brisk walking
- 🥤 Medium chocolate shake = 120 more
- 🍔 Double Whopper with cheese?
Over 3 hours of non-stop brisk walking - 🍟 Add fries? You’re now hiking the length of a bus route… twice.
And this isn’t about guilt.
It’s about knowing what you’re really choosing. Did you even realize how long it takes to walk off the food we eat?
Because if your meal needs a pair of sneakers to follow it, maybe it’s time to think twice.
The bus driver’s reality:
- Tight schedule
- No fridge
- No time
- And sometimes, no options
But there are better choices.
Not perfect—just better.
You could swap the chocolate shake for water or herbal tea.
Bring a wrap instead of a deep-fried sandwich.
Pack some protein or energy bars with ingredients you can pronounce.
Even that small shift adds up over time—just like the calories do.
And next time you’re in line and tempted by the combo?

Just pause and ask yourself:
“Do I want the combo… or the sneakers?”
Sometimes the best order is a better decision.
